ABT Sportsline did not build a headline-grabbing monster this time. The company chose a different path. Its latest project starts with Audi’s SQ5, a crossover many owners already consider quick enough. Still, “enough” rarely survives long inside a tuning workshop.
The visual changes appear first, or maybe not first. They simply catch your eye before the numbers do.
The ride height drops by 1.8 inches, equal to 45 mm. Nothing extreme. Yet the effect is immediate. The body sits closer to the pavement, and the entire vehicle looks more settled. More deliberate.
A revised front apron joins the package. So do fresh wheel-arch components and a different rear diffuser. ABT badges show up in several places, front and rear included. The green example displayed by the tuner does not rely on oversized wings or exaggerated aerodynamic pieces. In a market full of loud builds, that stands out.
The wheels deserve a mention. ABT sells 22-inch alloys for the SQ5, with prices starting at 4,560 euros. Using the conversion referenced by the company, that equals roughly $5,250.
Then there is the engine. Audi’s standard version already produces 362 horsepower. The same figure translates to 367 ps or 270 kW. Torque reaches 406 lb-ft, or 550 Nm.
ABT looked at those numbers and decided there was room left. Its Power S package raises output to 434 brake horsepower. The metric equivalent sits at 324 kW. Torque climbs too, reaching 443 pound-feet.
Viewed another way, owners gain 72 horsepower. The increase also equals 73 ps and 54 kW. Torque rises by 37 lb-ft, or 50 Nm.
Not earth-shattering. Still, enough to matter. The upgrade relies on revised engine software. Buyers receive a five-year warranty from ABT, a detail many tuners do not provide. Pricing starts at 4,590 euros, approximately $5,285 according to the quoted conversion.
Performance improves accordingly, as the SQ5 retains its quattro all-wheel-drive layout. The seven-speed DCT remains untouched. ABT quotes 4.7 seconds for the run to 60 mph, equivalent to 97 kph.
Top speed reaches 155 mph. That number converts to 250 kph.
Interestingly, ABT spent little time discussing the cabin. Interior photos were absent from the presentation. The company did mention available accessories, including a projection system displaying the tuner’s logo when the doors open.
And that says quite a bit about this project. ABT did not try to reinvent the SQ5. The company sharpened a few edges, added power where owners would notice it, lowered the stance, and stopped there.
