ABT Gives Audi’s Upcoming A2 EV a Sharper Look Ahead of Debut

Audi plans a return for the A2 name, this time with an electric layout. The future small model will sit on the MEB+ architecture used across several Volkswagen Group projects, including the Cupra Raval, Skoda Epiq, and the future Volkswagen ID. Polo. So far, Audi has shown only a silhouette of the entry electric model, with no full presentation yet.

Before any official reveal, ABT Sportsline published a rendering through its Instagram channel at the end of March 2026. The image looked unusually close to a studio press photo. The proportions, the lighting, even the staging suggested something more deliberate than a casual design exercise.

The vehicle appears in Nardo Grey, placed on a raised display surface. Behind the car sits a large screen with a historic visual linked to ABT`s company history. Timing matters here because the tuner reaches its 130th anniversary in 2026, and the image seems tied to that milestone.

The shape still follows the familiar upright A2 formula. Even with added trim pieces, the outline stays easy to recognize. The front section receives carbon details, while matching material extends along the side skirts, wheel arches, and rear area. Larger forged wheels stand out through a contrasting finish, and ride height sits slightly lower than expected for a standard small EV.

Despite those changes, the car does not turn aggressive. The profile still leans toward compact practicality, almost van-like in side view. The added parts sharpen the surface treatment, though the basic character stays soft rather than hard-edged.

Audi has not shared drivetrain figures for the A2 e-tron. What is known is the output spread offered by the MEB+ family across the group, starting near 116 hp and reaching beyond 220 hp. No placement inside that range has been attached to the A2 yet.

Abt also leaves room for interpretation. Large gains in output are less convincing with an electric platform, where classic tuning reaches limits quickly. A visual package looks more realistic here.

There is another route. Efficiency-focused body parts for improved range would fit the same concept, especially on an urban electric model. For now, the rendering serves one purpose well. The next A2 has not reached public launch yet, though discussion has already started around it.
